07 Oct Completion of model tests in the ETSI Caminos, Canales y Puertos wave tank
The ARCHIME3 project successfully completed its first stage of tests, in the wave tank of the Enviroment, Coast and Ocean Research Laboratory (ECOREL-UPM). The teaching and research group of the Universidad Politecnica de Madrid, led by Professor Vicente Negro Valdecantos, has carried out a complete set of tests in which they have tested different configurations of the Beridi floating platform against different sea states.
The present study of the hydrodynamic behavior of the platform, at 1:60 scale, had a double objective; on the one hand, to analyze the behavior of two different configurations of the Triwind floater, in their version for +10MW, in search of possible improvements in their naval properties and, on the other hand, to obtain real data that would serve for the calibration of the numerical models that are being performed in parallel.
The culmination of these tests are a key milestone within the Archime3 project and constitute a very important step in the validation of the floater behavior for the largest turbines on the market and for the most demanding climatic conditions.
